POLLEN, the Political Ecology Network, is calling for its third Biennial Conference, taking place in Brighton, UK, 24-26 June 2020. The conference theme is ‘Contested Natures: Power, Possibility, Prefiguration. Proposals for sessions can be submitted until 31 Oct 2019.

Call for Papers „Making Sense of Climate Change – Models, Cosmologies and Practices from North Africa and the Middle East”

The Middle East and North Africa are, according to recent predictions, one of the regions most affected by global warming (IPCC 2014). Nonetheless, although some social scientists focusing on the MENA have addressed the issue (Sowers 2011, 2013; Barnes 2015), climate change is still widely absent in Middle Eastern studies and other disciplines relating to the region.

In June 2019, the EnJust network – a new network dealing with questions of environmental justice – organized its first workshop on “Narratives and Practices of Environmental Justice” in Kiel, Germany (see a report here). Now, the call for the next meeting in 2020 is out:
